Want an inside look at a commercial print shop?

Intern at Barrel Maker!

Thanks so much for your interest in our internship program! We have some questions for you, as well as some more information about us – instructions to apply are at the bottom of the page. We look forward to talking to you soon!

About Us:

Barrel Maker is a commercial screen printing facility in Buffalo Grove, IL. We produce approximately
100,000 t-shirts each month. In addition we do design work and even product manufacturing
and importing for large clients. Our customers vary from breweries and gyms to small
businesses and big corporations. We pride ourselves on the quality of our work as well as our
accessibility and ability to work as a true partner with our clients.

About Our Intern Program:
Our intern program is a great opportunity for college students seeking real world experiences in
an active and lively print shop for credit. We can work with your school to determine how many
hours you need to fulfill to achieve the amount of credits necessary. Our internships are not
paid and are meant to provide you with a true depiction of a working print shop. Depending on
your qualifications we might be able to provide your resume as a referral to a client down the
road.

Intern Duties will include but are not limited to:
-Counting in garments
-Catching shirts
-Unloading garments from the automatic presses
(This is a great way to learn how the presses operate!)
-Reclaiming screens for the darkroom
-Burning screens in the dark room
-Folding & Polybagging
-Scanning in production sheets

PLEASE NOTE: You will likely not do any manual printing, unless you have prior experience. Due to the liability involved it
is difficult for us to teach manual printing and then let interns print. That being said, if you show the ability
and we feel you would be responsible, there might be an opportunity for some simpler prints. Keep in mind this is not
a design position, but more of a production assistant role, which will help you get an inside look at the processes of a real commercial print shop!
