I am the student recruiter at EPIC Academy Charter High School in South Chicago, and I rush ordered 70 T-shirts for an open house event earlier this month.
Justin and Erin were fantastic. I received prompt follow-up and correspondence, they were incredibly flexible in terms of my time constraints, and they were able to help me find an excellent balance of quality and affordability.

When I started my business and needed printers I went to six different companies that either never called me back or basically told me that my designs were too complicated for the small amount of shirts that I wanted to print. I was so frustated with the entire process until I found Erin & Justin and looked no further! I have used Barrel Maker many times since over the past year and absolutely LOVE them! Not only do they do great work and have wonderful service but they are great people in general. I always want something different or new and they are always up for the challenge. They usually will even throw in a few suggestions, many that I have used and loved. They don’t have a problem taking the time to explain things to me and making sure that my shirts are correct before they start printing. They take exceptional pride in their work and it shows, their prices are reasonable and they have squeezed me in many times when I needed shirts on short notice. I will use them as long as I’m in business (which hopefully will be a long time) because they are awesome!

We went to Barrel Maker with 12 different designs, each with multiple shirt styles, quantities, and colors. Justin spent about an hour on the phone with me just talking about ink options and their sustainability. We asked for samples, vacillated between different shirt companies and discussed fulfillment possibilities. In other words, we gave Barrel Maker a job that was really complicated and should have made them hate us. Instead, Justin was patient, responsive, flexible, accommodating, and enthusiastic throughout the entire project. From a designer’s perspective, they’re aesthetic sense is ideal, and from a business perspective, they are more of a partner than a vendor. If you go with Barrel Maker, I’m confident that you’ll be happy that you did.

4/12/2011Barrel Maker printing was quite possibly one of the best companies I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. My company needed 200 high quality t-shirts produced in under 2 weeks, in Chicago (we’re based in Washington, D.C.), for a reasonable price. I found Barrel Maker Printing with the help of Yelp, along with a few other screen printers and started making phone calls. Every other company I reached was noticeably unhappy with my request and emailed quotes at a snail’s pace that were a) wrong, b)outrageous or c) all of the above; but not Barrel Maker. I spoke with Justin and right away he was able to tell me the range we could expect to spend on shirts, the cost of printing and said he could have it all done in time to distribute at our conference in Chicago

The decision to get the shirts made was a little last minute so we weren’t exactly prepared with the artwork when I spoke with Barrel Maker the first time. They were not only very patient with us when waiting on decisions about artwork, logo placement and shirt choices but also went out of their way to make sure we were confident in those choices. When we requested samples, Justin overnighted three different options; updated invoices and mockups were sent in a timely manner any time we made adjustments to quantity, size selections or design; status updates arrived while the shop had the shirts in production to reassure us that everything was running smoothly. Clearly, the customer service at Barrel Maker is one of a kind. If every company ran this way, a site like Yelp probably wouldn’t be necessary.But let’s be real, none of that would have mattered if the shirts hadn’t turned out well. Luckily, this story does in fact have a fairy tale ending. The shirts are FANTASTIC! My company loves them and more importantly, everyone who received them at our conference loved them. (By the way, in order to receive these fantastic shirts, on a Sunday no less, Barrel Maker arranged for a delivery time and location that worked with my company’s schedule while we were in the city – no fuss.) I guarantee you will be happy with what you find at Barrel Maker, you just don’t find quality service and products like this anymore. My company is looking to do a much bigger order in the future and I know that we’ll be returning to Barrel Maker.

1/7/2011The fine folks at Barrel Maker are a joy to work with! They offered great advice regarding my designs, producing a superior product than I had originally thought possible. And when I ran out of sizes, they were able to print me more shirts easily and quickly.
I would definitely recommend printing with Barrel Maker. Not only because they are great at what they do, but they are the kind of business you can only find in Chicago: Friendly, professional, creative.

There’s a reason why Barrel Maker Printing deserves 5-stars.. they genuinely rock!
Justin and Erin have truly made the nightmare of shirt-printing easy-breezy for us, and we couldn’t be more grateful!Star 1: Friendly service. After getting impatient quotes from other printing companies for our league shirts, Justin picked up the phone and spent nearly 45 minutes walking me through the printing process -all the while taking actual interest in our Dodgeball league. He didn’t even quote me over the phone that day. He emailed it perfectly drafted, with no hidden fees or superfluous mark-ups -and even added on a screen-printing discount.
Star 2: Customized artwork. We came to Justin and Erin in the Spring of 2010 with little more than a rough logo in a word.doc file -and they a.) cleaned it up and turned it into our now sweet league shirts, and b.) taught this computer-illiterate how to convert Word docs into PDFs!
Star 3: Eco-friendly: Though it takes more time to process and dry, Justin and Erin offer environmentally-conscious soy-based ink. Which, in my opinion, washes well and is even more vibrant than other inks.
Star 4: Fast turnaround: We’ve had to place rush orders on several occasions, and each time, the shirts go out faster than we expected. If your logo or printing screen doesn’t need to change, they can save it, keep it on hand, and print your called-in orders fast.
Star 5: Selection: Barrel Maker has a great selection of ink colors and shirts, baby tees, sweaters, canvas bags, you name it. We’ve tried several different brands of t-shirts and have found that our favorites are Gildan heavy cotton and Hanes heavyweight which don’t lose their fit or fade.
We love Barrel Maker Printing, and know you will too.

I needed around 25 shirts for a bar crawl, I needed them done by a certain date. AND I was looking for a company that was going to be able to print on nice and soft shirts as well as use inks that didn’t feel like a plastic bag glued onto them. Barrel Maker Printing was awesome at accommodating all of these requests.
They suggested a super affordable and really nice soft shirt, and even went the extra bit to make sure the graphics were not heavy and plastic-y. And they got them done by the time I needed them.
When I went to pick up the shirts they were SUPER friendly and totally cool. Very highly recommend them! I actually wish I had more excuses to get shirts printed by them.

great service, amazing turnaround time. took extra steps to make sure they had additional sizes of kiddy t-shirts for our family reunion order and even pulled a onesie from their own stock and did a special print when i realized my sizes might not work. also helped me match colors between different t-shirt suppliers. since their house was only a block from ours, they also offered to drop them off at our door…really went above and beyond and i would recommend them to anyone!

I have used them both for their printing and have purchased from their children’s clothing line.
Both experiences were great!
The printing process had such a quick turn around and the shirts they provide are of such good quality and looked great with my design.
I have pretty much given every baby/child I know one of their shirts or onesies, which Barrel Maker obviously prints and look great. And, since my friends keep having kids, I will keep going back for more. -

Working with Erin and Justin has been such a pleasure. They are very personable, quick to respond, offer input when needed, and make really great shirts! These guys are incredibly good at what they do. Not only are they very hands on and willing to work with you to give you exactly what you are looking for, but they have a stellar end product to boot.
They provided samples to ensure that I received the exact color that I wanted and were very good about having a back and forth dialogue with me to guarantee that the design/placement/etc. were perfect. I couldn’t have asked for a more pleasant printing experience.
Bonus points to them for being family owned and using green processes and materials (Soy ink? Yes!)

Impeccable service, really nice people, locally and family owned, great prices! Erin and Justin helped us to design and print t-shirts, sweatshirts and jackets for our company. They did a really good job on our logo and also all the clothes that we ordered were really good quality. They will be our only choice for all of our future printing needs. These guys fully rock! I needed shirts for an event I was throwing and came to them with a ROUGH design. Not only did they clean up my design for me and make it look pretty floss, they did it in almost no time! The shirts were top quality and looked amazing. The service was way more personalized than other companies and I liked using someone local.

9/8/2011Having extremely specific ideas about our designs, colors, shirt companies, and ink consistencies we assumed our path to a printer would be long and arduous. Luckily Yelp led us right to Barrel Maker! Erin and Justin are the kind of partners any business would be lucky to have. They’ve printed 7 of our designs, some on very short notice, and each one has turned out amazing. If you want a printer to guide you through the intricacies of water based-soy-discharge-plastisols or just bust out some amazing shirts Barrel Maker is the place. We plan to print all our designs through them and would absolutely recommend Erin and Justin to anyone.

2/22/2011I recently had shirts for my band printed at Barrel Maker Printing. They were recommended by a friend so I figured I would try them out. First off, I’m”m a stickler for customer service..and they nailed it! Not only was everything done on time, they helped me with my design. I read on their website that they are family owned business which I liked as well. I really got the vibe that they liked my shirt idea and wanted to make it even better. I took a chance on the little guy and it definitely paid off. I would highly recommend them.
